The Silent Person on Community Groups

These members are often the favorites in groups like church or alumni communities. They may be silent most of the time, occasionally popping up to say happy birthday or congratulations. Typically, these silent types are very productive at work, deeply committed to family and friends, and their stoicism can be disarming. They are often the first to contribute financially to a cause.

The Energizer

This person initiates new groups, introduces brilliant ideas, and invites others to join. Initially, everyone supports the great idea enthusiastically. However, when they realize the energizer has boundless energy, they gradually fade into the background, leaving the energizer to do all the work alone. Since the energizer doesn’t complain, they remain unaware that others’ lack of participation will eventually backfire. After the successful event or cause, the energizer will express gratitude and leave the group. When the members see this person achieving other successes, they wonder why they weren’t invited.

The Spammers

These individuals never reach out to check on you but are quick to promote their business, products, or religion. They send daily updates about their product launch, inventory, new markets, and the latest trends. If only they knew that a simple call to ask how you are could make you more willing to promote their business.

The Constantly Depressed

This person becomes triggered into depression with every interaction or non-interaction. You can tell from their silence that they are sulking. When you reach out, they recount a misdeed from 15 years ago. Since there was no WhatsApp at the time, they couldn’t spread their sadness like contagion. They carry depression like a badge of honor, but while people sympathize with someone who is sad, constant misery and dark moods drive them away.

The Cacklers

These individuals target cheerful and popular members, heckling every post. Whether the post is an achievement or an inspiration, the cacklers remain committed to gaslighting, merely seeking a reaction.

The Plagiarists

These people scour WhatsApp statuses for quotes to use without giving credit. Insecure and lacking confidence in their abilities, they design posters and attribute quotes to themselves. Even worse, motivational speakers, religious leaders, and business owners will quote philosophers like Jim Rohn, Marcus Aurelius, and leaders like Marianne Williamson without crediting the source. Why?

The Voices of Reason

These members take time to analyze before responding. They don’t react to everything impulsively. Deliberate and patient, they eventually build a following because people are drawn to reason. As you navigate WhatsApp, take time off to read, travel, meditate, and enjoy your life away from your phone.
